Earthquake in Turkey and Syria, 2023

First, we need to know that in which circumstances earthquakes occur. Earthquakes are a natural disaster which brings unmitigated destruction and devastation. The effects of an earthquake can be remained for years.  Earthquakes occur when two tectonic plates bumps into or rubs against each other, which create vibrations in the earth layer. The severity of an earthquake is measured on the Richter scale, which cover from 1 to 10. 10 is the most severe. Frequency and severity of earthquakes change from region to region.

On 6 February 2023 at about 04:17 am local time (UTC+3), a 7,8 Mww Magnitude earthquake hit Southeast Turkey and Syria (Near the border area of both countries) and after some moment another wave of earthquake. About 35000 people from Turkey and 6000+ have killed from Syria. As per statement from Turkey Media, about a Million peoples were admitted in hospitals. Survivors are facing cooling and freezing weather condition.

It is one of the worst earthquakes to strike Turkey in the last 100 years. They have destroyed the region where huge numbers of refugee were living in difficult conditions with facing shortage of food, cloths and other necessities of life.

Infrastructure is completely damaged. Peoples are to try to find water, shelter and especially food to save life. This is a call and request to peoples to stand with refugee. They need water, food, shelter and medical care urgently. There has been huge and thousands loss of life, Millions injured, and Many peoples are still in buried in the debris. Damaged roads and tough weather condition make difficulties in rescue efforts.

• Southern Turkey has been badly affected, especially Gaziantep, Hatay, Antakya and surrounding areas.
• Under mention, cities of Syria have been effected by the earthquake and as well as aftershocks:-
• 1. Latakia
  2. Aleppo
  3. Idlib
  4. Hama
• As per statement of UN, over 9 million Syrians affected in earthquake.
• “People are applying for tents, aid and other help, but still not received anything” said Hassan and his family, staying in a playground in Turkey’s.
• More than 2 hundred thousand people evacuated from the effected areas hit by earthquake.
